The deadline for submissions on freshwater farm plans and the low-slope map for stock exclusion has been extended until October 7.

Submissions had been due to close on September 26, so farmers who want to have their say but missed the earlier deadline now have another opportunity.

Beef + Lamb NZ and DairyNZ have both made submissions on behalf of the farmers they represent. They worked with Federated Farmers to ensure all three groups’ positions and approaches aligned.

B+LNZ has posted its draft submission on its website for farmers to draw on if they want to when making their own submission.

There is also a factsheet and other information about proposed changes to intensive winter grazing regulations, as well as information on how to make submissions.

Submissions on changes to the winter grazing rules also close on October 7, while submissions on what defines a wetland close on October 27.

All submissions need to be sent to the Ministry for the Environment.
