Another wintry blast had a detrimental effect at Temuka last Monday by lifting volume which meant supply exceeded demand for most classes.
Store lamb volume climbed to 4900 with a large portion Merino wethers. Demand was very limited, and prices came back $13-$22 on the previous week.
In contrast, a moderate prime lamb offering was keenly contested with the majority firm at $180-$219. Ewes also ticked off another consistent week for a variable yarding, with prices ranging from $90 to $230.
Similarly, an increase in cattle volume meant buyers could be selective, and prime steers and heifers eased, while boner cows came back 8-17c/kg. Boner heifers managed to firm though with Friesian, 390-455kg, averaging $1.82/kg
