TUANZ (Telecommunications Users Association of New Zealand) and RHAANZ (Rural Health Alliance Aotearoa NZ) are set to host a Rural Connectivity Symposium. TUANZ chief executive Craig Young said the aim of the day was to learn and discuss possible priorities about the recently announced Rural Broadband Initiative #2 (RBI2) and mobile blackspots funding by the Government. The symposium on May 28 at the James Cook Hotel in Wellington will be a mixture of presentations and workshops. Speakers include ANZ economist Con Williams, chairman of the NZ Telehealth Forum, Dr John Garrett, and speakers from government, telecommunications and health industries.

RHAANZ chief executive Michelle Thompson said the symposium would be useful for the industry.

“Bringing together a large number of stakeholders to discuss the options around improved connectivity is a great opportunity for us to provide a strong, unified response which reflects the voices of rural users of telecommunications services.”
