A quality line up of R3 and R2 Angus and Angus-Hereford were offered and buyers from outside the area made a special trip to take advantage. Strong demand resulted in prices for the older cattle again exceeding $3/kg, with R3 beef steers making $3-$3.11/kg. Lighter weighted R2 steers made similar per-head prices as the cpk rates pushed even higher for these types. Angus sold for $3.13-$3.25/kg, while Angus and Angus-Hereford cross, made $3.18-$3.26/kg.
Angus and Angus-Hereford cross heifers sold to $3.03/kg, while Angus, made $2.90-$2.96/kg. Two lines of Hereford-Friesian sold for $2.78-$2.84/kg.
Weaner bull prices were variable depending on the quality of the calves, but the better end of the Friesian bulls made $500-$730, with two lighter lines at $320-$350.
A good gallery of buyers gathered on the rails in the sheep pens and prices remained steady for a moderate yarding. Ewe lambs mainly sold for $65-$75, while most lambs were male and sold for $76-$85. A small yarding of mixed sex fetched $60-$73.
