Synlait Milk chairman Graeme Milne said Roest will bring a wealth of experience to the board.
“Bill’s governance skills and deep understanding of international business will add further depth to the board of Synlait Milk as the company pursues its vision to be a trusted supplier of choice to some of the world’s best milk-based health and nutrition companies,” Milne said.
Roest has recently retired from Fletcher Group where he had a long and varied career, including 12 years as chief financial officer of Fletcher Building Ltd.
His other board appointments include director of Fisher and Paykel Appliances where he chairs the Audit Committee and director of the not-for-profit New Zealand Housing Foundation, which assists low income families into first home ownership.
Roest is a member of the Institute of Directors, a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (UK) and a member of the Association of Chartered Accountants (NZ).
