Mataura Valley Milk wants to increase supply by up to 40 million litres over the next two years.

Mataura Valley Milk (MVM) is after more farmers within an 80 kilometre radius of its plant near Gore.

Chief executive Bernard May says MVM is keen to build A1 protein-free milk supply to help power its growth as a world-class dairy based nutritional facility. The company produces a range of premium nutritional products destined for markets globally.

MVM is a joint venture between The a2 Milk Company (75%) and China Animal Husbandry Group (25%).

The site – one of the most technically advanced nutritional facilities globally – was completed and took in its first tanker of milk in 2018.

May says MVM wants to increase supply by up to 40 million litres over the next two years.

“The target reflects our capacity for increased production and the commitments we have with customers who value the quality of our A1 protein-free milk and nutritional products,” May said.

MVM says farmers can earn a significant premium and it has programmes to help drive improvement and sustainability in their farming systems.

“Feedback from our current suppliers is that the benefits from these are valued highly and the programmes have become a pillar of the way they run their businesses,” he said.
