“The 2013 storms were major and as such needed a major response from insurers,” FMG advice and insurance general manager Conrad Wilkshire said.
“We knew that meant getting boots on the ground fast, which is exactly what we did and quick response meant we were able to work closely with support partners and maximise relationships with suppliers to help get clients up and running again.”
The storm also highlighted a need for greater advice on what to do to help prepare for strong winds.
Offering advice as well as insurance was key, Wilkshire said.
To help fill the gap FMG had worked with Irrigation NZ and Lincoln University to research the storms and produce the Irrigator Advice Guide.
The guide has information based on the need to Point, Park and Anchor the irrigator.
