In September 2015, China imported 89,579 tonnes of dairy commodities, up 13,597t from September 2014. Of this total, 31,371t were from New Zealand. NZ was the second largest supplier, only behind the United States.
By value, Chinese imports are well down, seeing a decline of US$55m from that imported in September 2014. For NZ, however, there was a slight increase. China imported US$92m of dairy commodities from NZ in September 2015, an increase of US$1m from September 2014.
The majority of product imported was milk powders, followed by butter and cheese.
