Store lamb numbers improved at Canterbury Park last Tuesday. Heavier lines sold well, though lighter lines were harder work. A small number of ewes with lambs-at-foot varied, with better types making $120 all-counted. There was good quality in the prime lamb pens, and heavy types lifted to $222-$260.
Quality was mixed for store cattle. Better two-year steers typically earned $2.98-$3.07/kg, with lesser-types at $2.87-$2.97/kg, regardless of breed. One-year traditional heifers had strong interest, with 236-257kg selling for $3.08-$3.17/kg. In the prime pens, anything with weight and condition were well contested, with the top end of the heifers often selling for $3.04-$3.13/kg.
