Gains covered a large offering of the last of the summer-shorn ewe wools, older seasons’ wool and a good quality offering of longer lambs’ wool, PGG Wrightson South island auctioneer Dave Burridge said.

The best price gains were in 29 micron lambs’ wool and finer that sold 3% to 6% higher than the previous Christchurch sale on April 5 and the 31 to 35-micron ewe wool market, up 3% to 5%. New season second-shear was also actively bid, reflecting a good growing season.

The pass-in rate was 10%.
