The Warkworth show and the Methven A and P Show on Saturday and the Waitomo Sports and Flaxbourne A and P Show on Sunday are off.

The Waimarino Shears in Raetihi on Saturday are still going ahead but the names and contact details of everyone there will be taken. Competitors and supporters are being told to stay away if they are unwell.

New Zealand Shears president Claire Grainger said it was told last night of the position and given 24 hours to decide whether its annual championships on April 2-4 will go ahead in Waitomo District Council public facility the Les Munro Centre. A special meeting was being held at 5.15pm today. The contest attracts full houses on the Friday and Saturday nights and about 200 competitors.
