Gains included a 3% lift for good style 35 micron and up to 4% better for 37 micron and stronger style.

However, more average wool was up to 8% cheaper than previously, PGG Wrightson North Island auctioneer Steve Fussell said.

New season lamb wool was keenly sought and hogget wool also sold well.

For second shear wool, good style three to four inch was up to 8% higher but average was lower by the same ratio. Two to four inch good wool was marginally stronger and two to three inch good style was up to 7% dearer.

For lamb wool, 28 micron was up to 14% dearer and 29 micron 5% to 6% dearer. That was better than 30 micron being up to 5% cheaper and 31 micron being steady in price.

Oddments were in favour with second-shear bellies and pieces two to four inches up to 23% dearer, Fussell said A 10% pass-in rate represented a good clearance.

Prices included: Full wool, good to average: 32 micron, $4.39/kg clean, steady; 33 micron, $4.10/kg clean, down 5c; 34 micron, $4.37/kg clean, up 48c; 35 micron, $3.44/kg clean, up 1c; 36 micron, $3.43/kg clean, up 4c; 37 micron, $3.32/kg clean, down 8c; 38 micron, $3.30/kg clean, steady.
