The awards were for a series of articles on sheep milking in last year’s June issue of Country-Wide.

They covered past and present attempts at building a sheep milking industry in New Zealand and what was needed for it to succeed. The feature looked at private businesses, overseas experiences, academic studies, financials, innovation and technological advances.

Country-Wide’s NZX Agri colleagues at Farmers Weekly also enjoyed success with Neal Wallace winning the Alliance Red Meat Industry Award and Stephen Bell, the Beef + Lamb NZ News Award.

The Rongo winner was Radio NZ journalist Susan Murray.
