At the Temuka store cattle sale last Thursday the typical late winter pasture pressures were evident with a lift in cattle volume. Demand for traditional lines remained, although dairy-beef mostly eased with R2 Hereford-Friesian steers mostly earning $2.66-$2.76/kg. R1 cattle above 200kg sold on a steady market, although lighter types were cheaper buying.

The better 170-240kg R1 beef-Friesian steers went for $3.31-$3.47/kg
R1 Hereford-Friesian heifers, 170-240kg, mostly made $3.00-$3.20/kg
A large showing of 140-210kg Friesian bulls were $2.50-$2.67/kg
