Federated Farmers vice-president Karen Williams

 Following Karen’s Pulpit piece “On-farm safety is a choice,” where she talks about her personal experience with an on-farm accident, she will be leading in our panel discussion. 

Karen explains how as a mother, wife and farmer, it is obvious to her that NZ’s farming community needs to develop safer farming habits. Being the vice president of Federated Farmers and also the safety spokesperson, Karen is heavily involved in the farming community and a huge advocate for making sure each farmer gets home safely to their families.

Glen Eden Farms stock manager Daniel Hansen

 

Daniel has farmed all his life and like many farmers, family is why farm safety is important to him. After a close call with an on-farm accident he is so grateful he had his helmet and seatbelt on. Daniel was also behind starting the Rapa Feed Run, gathering baleage from around the Wairarapa and sending it to farmers in the Hawke’s Bay who were battling with drought.

 

Align Farms chief executive Rhys Roberts

 

Align Farms puts social and environmental responsibilities at the forefront of commercial activities by aligning with nature. Managing a large group of agricultural workers, Rhys also had a close call when a worker was caught inside a silage grab and was lucky to survive. Rhys will share his observations about people and the interesting changes he made on-farm.
