M bovis review gets underway

An independent review of the Mycoplasma bovis eradication programme is aimed at identifying lessons that can be learned from NZ’s largest biosecurity response. Massey University professor of farm and agribusiness management Nicola Shadbolt will join the show as the newly appointed chair of the M bovis review panel to explain the process of the eradication programme.

Award for lasting contributions

Ministry for Primary Industries principal scientist and winner of the Ray Brougham Trophy by the New Zealand Grasslands Association Gerald Rys shares his success story. Also featured as next week’s Farmers Weekly Newsmaker, Rys has been recognised for his extensive career and advocacy of pastoral agriculture and the research behind it. Reflecting back on his career, Rys says it has been a sequence of thirds and all have involved grassland science to a greater or lesser degree.
