Partners Jackie Humm and Russell Knutson, pictured, showed their Jacson Cube for the first time, after 18 months in development.

The product replaces the messy and often ineffective buckets and brushes that are now used on most farms and orchards.

It is self-contained with a rotation brush and water jets for heavy soiling, a hand brush for extra cleaning when required and a hand-spray disinfectant applicator, with a three-litre liquid tank enough for 10 or 12 cleans.

The unit has a lid that doubles as a steadying support for the user when opened, and can be closed down and placed in a car boot for transport.

The standard Jacson Cube sells for $549 plus GST and delivery.

An optional extra is a disinfection mat in a foot bath tray for $40.

Humm and Knutson, a former farm adviser, designed the Cube and had most of the components made here.

They said biosecurity had now become everybody’s business and the first-time showing of the Cube had generated a lot of interest.

“People know they are going to have to do something and are pleased to see a unit that is easy, fast and safe to use,” Knutson said.

Jacson3 is also selling a permanent station for farm dairies and small processing plants that washes and brushes boots within a hard-wearing polyethylene shell, with hand-holds for operator stability. That retails for $795 plus GST and delivery.
