Every run counts The first day of test cricket is always a special one, a day that marks the true start of summer. Typically, as there was today, rain delays the start, but the eventual sound of bat on ball is a sign the sun’s on its way.

Judging by the state of the Seddon Park pitch, they’ve had no trouble growing grass in Waikato.

There’s been good spring rain around much of the country in the past few weeks as well, and the contractors have been flat out putting away feed for the summer.

We can learn a lot from cricket. How to work as a team, how to keep our eyes on our goals and the importance of having good protection where it’s needed.

It also highlights the importance of being there for you mates, whether they’re in good nick or scratching about a bit.

Working together, we can put a decent score up and and if not, it’s still been a good day out in the paddock.
