Expect to fork out more for fertiliser Running a business is easy. All you have to do is spend less than you make. The trouble is, business owners often don’t have much control over their essential costs.

News that some fertiliser prices are now at their highest levels in five years will sting for farmers and growers heading into the crucial autumn season.

Strong international demand and high manufacturing and shipping costs have pushed the price of DAP up by US$200/t since January.

Apparently the prices should ease once Northern Hemisphere demand eases during the next month or so.

That’s cold comfort to NZ farmers looking to sow before the weather turns here.
