Stud breeders catch up

Avatar photo
It has been a long time between drinks but Australian Hereford breeder Bill Lack and United States breeder Kim Prestwood caught up in central Otago.
Reading Time: < 1 minute

The two Hereford breeders last saw each other at the last World Hereford Conference in Uruguay in 2016.

The two are in New Zealand with 130 others at the latest conference and Lack, who runs the 40-cow Willack Poll Hereford Stud in Dawson, Victoria, says renewing acquaintances at conferences is as enjoyable as listening to speakers and seeing what other breeders are up to.

Prestwood runs 50 stud cows at Lenoir in North Carolina, a large herd in what is a densely populated and largely urban part of the United States.

Both breeders were full of praise for the conference saying the speakers were interesting and the rugged Central Otago landscape, where they had stopped to inspect the Earnscleugh and Locharburn Hereford studs, a contrast to what they are used to.
