A total of 2670 tonnes of skimmed milk powder (SMP) has been offered into public intervention over the past three weeks.

Lithuania, Belgium and Poland continued to offer product into the programme with 528t, 686t, and 280t of SMP being sold respectively for the week ended August 2.

In total this intervention period has seen 2670t being sold to the programme with 1134t coming from Lithuania, 936t from Belgium and 600t from Poland.

With pressure remaining on prices and the extension of the intervention period to the end of the year it is expected that at least 100,000t of milk powder is still to go through the programme.

For the same week offerings of SMP and butter continue to flow into PSA.

A total of 884t of SMP was moved into PSA. Small volumes were offered from the Netherlands and UK with the largest flows coming from Germany (500t) and Belgium (200t).

The UK and Belgium also offered butter into PSA (134t and 100t respectively) but the largest volumes came from the Netherlands (2312t), Ireland (1250t), Germany (633t) and France (499t).

Stock on hand at the end of June in PSA was evaluated at 17,632 for SMP, up 20% from end of May stocks of 14,671t.

Volumes of butter stocks on hand as at the end of June showed 74,955t, up 17% from stock on hand a month earlier of 63,810t.
