USDA: Milk-feed ratio improves in September

The milk-feed price ratio has increased from 2.61 to 2.90 in September, according to the USDA’s latest report on Agricultural Prices. The ratio compares the all-milk price against a mix of feed prices which include corn, alfalfa hay and soybeans.

The all-milk price increased from US$24.10/cwt to US$25.00/cwt.

Prices of corn, alfalfa hay and soybeans are all estimated to have decreased in September. 

Corn prices fell from US$3.63/bushel to US$3.38/bushel. Alfalfa hay prices fell from US$209/ton to US$197/ton. Soybean prices fell from US$12.40/bushel to US$11.20/bushel.
