US milk production continues to steadily grown

Milk production in the US was up 1% year-on-year for the month of October.  The rate of increase was very similar to September.  September data was revised down slightly to 0.9% growth.   In October this year there was 13,000 more cows in milk than at the same time last season.  Per cow production was also slightly higher this October than during October 2012. Production in California and Wisconsin, the two largest milk producing states, were up by 1% and 0.9% respectively in the month of October. Meanwhile growth rates of 5% or above were recorded for October in a number of states: Florida, Indiana, Kansas, and Utah.
