Poowong Notman Agricultural Farm lies an hour from Melbourne in South Gippsland and is close to many major milk processors. It's considered one of the most reliable natural rainfall regions in Australia and so usually good for year-round growth.
For the past 25 years, the farm has been a trialling ground for many of today's well-known pasture seeds and blends, hosting numerous dairy field days to demonstrate the economic performance attainable on site.

By doing that, the 500-cow herd produces about 300,000kg milksolids and is milked through a 40-bail state-of-the-art rotary dairy that has been strategically planned to manage more than 600 animals on a daily basis.
Full generator backup is in place for the complete dairy system, with new power-saving variable speed vacuum pump and solar hot water services. Automated milking has been installed with milk meters, electronic cup removers, automatic teat spray and more. Outside, four silos with permanent augers are set up.
A 600-cow concrete feedpad complete with flood wash is part of the farm's strategic management plan, along with all-weather laneways leading to 50 well-sized paddocks with a fully reticulated watering system feeding 1200-gallon troughs in each.
