The market firmed at Taranaki with enthusiastic competition for heavy, older cattle. R3 steers were of good weight with many above 600kg and sold to $2.67-$2.73/kg. The top end of R2 Hereford-Friesian steers, 462-500kg, were able to reach $2.62-$2.63/kg. Buyers were selective in the weaner calf pens.
