Strong demand for these types kept buyers honest, with Angus, 377kg, making $3.02/kg, and Angus and Angus-Hereford, 283-321kg, $2.92-$2.99/kg.

Angus steers, 437kg, sold for $1305 at $2.99/kg. Weaner Friesian bulls were the only other section of substance and sold to strong demand, at $410-$500 for 129-199kg.

Lamb numbers started to increase this week, which sets the scene for the coming months as vendors offload in preparation for winter. Prices, however, went in the opposite direction, with the market back $2-$6.

Lambs came from Taupo to Norsewood, but buyers were limited to locals with smaller buying orders. A larger offering of ewe lambs sold for $39-$65, while males fetched $63-$77, mixed-sex $51-$70. Breeding ewes were offered but sold to limited demand, with Romney 2-tooths making $56-$71. Run-with-the-ram 6-tooth Romneys topped the section, selling for $89.50.
