It’s the second of three new plants that have been built in just a year. A milk protein concentrate (MPC) plant came on line just two weeks ago and a new anhydrous milk fat (AMF) plant will be up and running in early October.
The RO plant reduces the physical volume or weight of milk, allowing the company to significantly lower transport costs between sites.
These new plants give the site flexibility in the products it makes driving the most out of every drop of milk to get the highest returns for farmers.
Southern operations manager Richard Gray said it’s great to have the second plant up and running.
“We’re now looking forward to the third and final plant coming online soon, allowing us to get the most out of all the milk that comes through the site over the coming months and years.”
