Safety a pressing matter

Given the growing emphasis around workplace health and safety onfarm, Heiniger has greatly reinforced its position as a leader in the global fibre-harvesting market by supplying quality, safer solutions to farmers in New Zealand and internationally.

The Evo Shearing Plant was the first shearing plant in the world to feature an electronic safety switch capable of eliminating handpiece lock-ups, which are dangerous and costly for shearers and woolgrowers alike.

If a handpiece becomes mechanically locked or is jammed by a hard contaminate such as wire the Evo instantly cuts the power supply from 3500rpm to a dead-stop in a fraction of a second.

Another unique feature is the quick-release downtube that is isolated from all electric components eliminating the risk of electric shock.

“The Evo has brought a new level of safety and performance to NZ and Australian shearing sheds,” Heiniger Australasian sales and marketing manager Chris Minke said.

“The unit has appealed to larger woolgrowers who have done a total shearing shed refit as well as smaller producers just after a single unit.”

Another Heiniger innovation widely used by farmers, shearing contractors and wool stores is the TPW Xpress Woolpress. In keeping with Heiniger’s mantra of safety the woolpress is equipped with a fully-compliant safety guard. Added features include a low-filling height that allows the TPW Xpress to be operator friendly with less stress and strain on the operator’s back. This coupled with the larger opening of the wool box ensures the largest armful of wool is able to be placed easily into the filling chamber.

The unique, automatic side pinning results in compact square contamination-free bales that are ideal for safe and compliant truck loading and road carting. The powerful yet quiet hydraulics ensure more wool is pressed into fewer bales, resulting in less storage and cartage costs while saving additional expense at shearing. Bales are automatically ejected with ease using the rear-control ejection lever and directly loaded on to the optional wool bale trolley. The TPW Xpress Woolpress comes complete with the latest digital scales.
