Round-up: SMP takes a dive on DTI

The latest e-auction for Dairy Trade India saw skimmed milk powder prices plummet to the lowest level this year. SMP prices received at event 32 on December 8 plunged to Rs136/kg (US$ 2030/t) down 6.2% from the previous auction when the SMP result was Rs 145/kg.

The average winning price for SMP at the latest GlobalDairyTrade auction on December 1 made a gain of 3.2% from the previous auction to US$1918/t.

The Milk Market Observatory’s latest quotations of SMP as at November 29 were US$1864/t for EU, US$1925/t for Oceania and US$1611/t for US. All quotations had fallen from the previous 15 day period.

Butter sold at the latest Dairy Trade India event remained stable at Rs 250/kg. 

The average winning price for butter at the latest GDT event made a 5.7% gain on the previous auction to break the $3000 mark and hit US$3009/t.

The Milk Market Observatory’s latest quotations of SMP as at November 29 were US$3252/t for EU, US$2900/t for Oceania and a staggering US$6393/t for US. While the EU prices had come back slightly, the Oceania prices and US prices gained slightly from 15 days earlier.
