Round-up: EEX dairy futures prices under pressure

Prices on EEX last week were largely under pressure with most traded lots settling lower for the week. A total of 196 lots (980t) of Dairy Futures traded on the European Energy Exchange (EEX) last week with 54 lots (270 tonnes) trading on butter and 142 lots (710t) trading on SMP.

Prices for SMP futures last week range from €1675/t (US$1822/t) for January contracts rising to €1800/t (US$1960/t) for July contracts. Prices gained 0.06% for the June contracts but fell for all the other contract periods with the largest fall for July contracts with a 2.17% decline.

Prices for butter futures all fell last week with the biggest decline also for the July contracts. Prices range from €2819/t (US$3070/t) for January contracts through to €2930/t (US$3190/t) for July contracts. 

EEX said Wednesday was the biggest day for trade activity last week with 130 lots (650t) traded, the bulk of which (120 lots) was traded on SMP.
