Raising reproductive performance

Tru-Test’s MilkHub Heat Detection System improves on existing heat detection approaches as the first step in raising reproduction performance.

The MilkHub Heat Detection System is based on the long-proven method of standing heats which New Zealand farmers have used over decades.

Historically, standing heats were noted in the paddock. By the 1980s, the introduction of tail paint rubbed from mounting helped farmers pick up signs of heat during milking.

Later, patches exposing colour after mounting offered another improvement. All these methods depend on visually identifying a cow on heat.

The MilkHub system uses the best aspects from exposed colour heat patches combined with the technology of an automated infra-red camera, the MilkHub Heat Detection Scanner.

The scanner can be integrated with the MiHub Online Herd Management and Autodrafting modules to provide the next advance in modern heat detection.

MilkHub Heat Detector patches work as a reliable standalone visual aid or can be combined with the automatic Heat Scanner.

The scanner automatically alerts staff to animals with signs of heat and if combined with one of MilkHub’s Autodrafting modules will automatically draft the animal recognised as on heat for ready mating.

The scanner acts as an extra pair of eyes in the dairy.

That doesn’t mean staff should take their eyes off what is going on in the dairy. Observation is still important but with MilkHub system the rate of heat detection will be more reliable and accurate.
