Launched at the National Fieldays, the new 5000 series weigh scale indicators are expected to overtake the reputation of their predecessor, the Tru-Test 3000 series, the firm says.

The 700 farmers who provided information for the design and development wanted the speed, accuracy and rugged reliability of Tru-Test’s 3000-series, launched in 2001, retained.

“They clearly voiced the need for more intuitive usability, to see, set up, navigate and find information more easily and quickly and to have more on-board storage capacity as well as options for transferring data easily, especially from the yards,” Tru-Test sales and marketing manager Verne Atmore says.

A 17cm transflective colour screen means data can be viewed easily from almost anywhere in the yards, even in the harshest sunlight. Predefined set-ups and the ability to create “favourites” let farmers quickly set up and switch between jobs.

With a capacity to store up to a million records on the XR model and 250,000 on the ID, the data storage needs for every operation are catered for.

Teamed with options for transferring data on and off the indicator including data transfer apps for Android and Apple smartphones and by USB flash drive, farmers can be confident about getting their data to where it needs to go from the yards or the office.

Tru-Test managing director Greg Muir says: “When farmers are putting large numbers of animals through the yards to extract a wide range of information they need a smooth process from the moment they start right through to emailing off data at the end of the day.”
