US election, EU lockdowns will impact an already volatile global market One new community case of covid-19 has got New Zealanders slightly on edge today, but compared to the rest of the world, we’re sitting pretty.

Much of Europe is going back into lockdown this week. The United States goes to the polls tomorrow as the country experiences record cases.

There will be repercussions from this new wave for NZ exporters, but it’s difficult to know what that will be at this early stage.

It’s a more critical time for read meat exporters than the first lockdown earlier in the year, but exporters have had the benefit of hindsight and have altered cuts and markets to suit the loss of food service.

Across the Atlantic, the US election will have huge implications for world trade. 

Here, it’s a case of controlling what we can and hoping the ripples from these global splashes don’t swamp us.
