Europe's cumulative milk deliveries for the season-to-date (April-August) period are up 2.7% compared to the same period in 2014. New Zealand's season-to-date (June-August) cumulative milk production was up 1.6%, Australia (July-August) was up 6.9% and the US (Jan-August) was up 1.5% compared to the same period a year earlier.
Europe's milk deliveries over the January-August period are 1.3% above a year earlier.
The extra milk production for the European season-to-August has been mostly translated into butter (+4.2%), skimmed milk powder (+3.8%), and cheese (1.4%). These have been slightly offset by a fall in production of milk powder cream, whole milk powder and partly skimmed milk powder (-1.2%) and fermented milk (-1.2%).
Season-to-date, Ireland has seen the biggest milk production increase compared to the previous year with growth of 12.3%. Luxembourg had the second biggest increase in milk production with 9.1%.
Five other countries have seen milk production growth of over 4% for the season-to-date and these were The Netherlands (7.7%), Belgium (6.6%), Hungary (4.4%), Portugal (4.3%), and Slovenia (4.1%).
Seven countries have seen declines in milk production for the season-to-date and these were Romania (9.4%), Estonia (4.4%), Cyprus (3.8%), Croatia (2.0%), Italy (1.9%), Greece (1.2%), and Sweden (0.3%).
