Throughput lifted to 780 head at Kaikohe last Wednesday, PGG Wrightson agent Vaughan Vujcich reported. The market was mostly on par, though enthusiasm was a little more subdued due to cold weather. The top end of R2 steers sold to $2.98/kg, though most made $2.80-$2.86/kg. R2 beef-cross bulls earned $2.50-$2.60/kg. A consignment of 100 cows vetted-in-calf to Charolais bull were offered due to a change in farming policy. Top traditional cows achieved $1600-$1700 and Hereford-Friesian $1400-$1450.
