There were around 500 head at Kaikohe last Wednesday, PGG Wrightson agent Vaughan Vujcich reported. Quality types sold well, while lesser types were required to meet the market. Better 2yr beef steers made $2.85-$2.90/kg, while less desirable types sold down to $2.30/kg to $2.50/kg. Two-year beef-cross bulls fetched $2.40-$2.50/kg with 2yr traditional and exotic-cross heifers at $2.75-$2.80/kg. Beef-cross boner cows were bought for $2.35-$2.45/kg with empty cows at $2.00-$2.10/kg.
