Just on 500 head of cattle were penned at Kaikohe last Wednesday, with most steers selling at steady levels, PGG Wrightson agent Vaughan Vujcich reported. Heifers were good quality and sold freely. Bulls were predominantly lesser types and returns reflected this.
Two-year Hereford-Friesian steers managed $3.05-$3.15/kg. Lighter yearling beef-dairy steers earned up to $3.50/kg, while cross-bred bulls traded at $2.50-$2.65/kg.
Lighter Friesian cows fetched $2.00-$2.05/kg.
