There were around 600 head on offer at Kaikohe last Thursday, PGG Wrightson agent Vaughan Vujcich reported. The steer market was steady to lifting at the top end and returned $2.50/kg to $2.68/kg. R1 dairy-beef steers fetched $2.30-$2.40/kg, while beef-types traded at $2.65-$2.75/kg. More R2 bull buyers entered the market bringing them to $2.20-$2.25/kg. Interest for heifers remains minimal regardless of quality, and R2 Angus and beef-cross made $1.90/kg to $2.10/kg.
