Ireland enters SMP into intervention

The week ending September 6 saw the largest offering of skimmed milk powder (SMP) into Public Intervention since the period opened.

A total of 3116t of SMP was offered for the week with Ireland using the scheme for the first time this PI period, offering 261t into the scheme.

Belgium continues to offer the biggest portion of SMP into PI with 1321t offered for the week. Other countries offering SMP into the scheme were Lithuania (495t), Germany (435t), Poland (320t), Finland (194t) and Latvia (90t). 

A total of 14,605t of SMP has been offered into PI this intervention period with a total 6347t coming from Belgium.

Private Storage Aid (PSA) saw the biggest weekly flow of SMP for the past 7 weeks. Of the 1390t entered during the week, Germany offered the biggest portion at 730t. France made its first entrance into the scheme for the period with 88t, as did Poland with 69t. Other volume came from Latvia (304t) and the UK (199t).

The Netherlands continues to offer the largest quantities of butter into PSA with 1286t out of the total 3145t offered for the week. Other offerings for the week came from Ireland (701t), Belgium (395t), Lithuania (381t), UK (182t), Germany (136t), Poland (42t) and France (22t). 

As at the end of June, butter stocks in PSA were at 74,955t and SMP stocks were at 17,632t.
