GlobalHQ bags two journalism awards

The GlobalHQ content team claimed two awards at the New Zealand Guild of Agricultural Journalists and Communicators (NZGAJC) annual journalism awards on Friday. Tauranga-based Richard Rennie won the AgResearch Science Writers Award for articles that appeared in Farmers Weekly.

Neal Wallace, of Dunedin, won the Alliance Group Ltd Red Meat Industry Journalism Award, also for articles in Farmers Weekly.

The awards dinner was held in Wellington, where a total of 11 accolades were presented; nine were for journalism and one for photography.

In addition, there was a new award this year – the Primary Sector Communications Campaign Award – sponsored this year by the guild.

The key objectives of the journalism awards are the encouragement and recognition of excellence in agricultural journalism.

The winners are:

– The Ko Tatou This Is Us Biosecurity Journalism Award was won by Nikki Mandow of RNZ News/Newsroom.

– The AgResearch Science Writers Award was won by Richard Rennie, for articles which appeared in Farmers Weekly.

– The Rural Women New Zealand Journalism Award was won by Sally Rae of the Otago Daily Times.

– The Federated Farmers Broadcast Journalism Award was won by Carol Stiles for two items that were broadcast on RNZ’s Country Life programme.

– The  Zespri Export Journalism Award was won by Nikki Mandow for items that appeared on RNZ News and Newsroom.

– Rural Women New Zealand Rural Connectivity Award was won by Anne Lee for articles which appeared in The Dairy Exporter.

– The Alliance Group Ltd Red Meat Industry Journalism Award, was won by  Neal Wallace, for articles in Farmers Weekly.
