Frankton prime and sheep sale March 15

Prices were mainly steady at the Frankton prime sale on Tuesday, though local trade heifers eased 2-3cpk.

Steers were mainly beef lines and made $2.70-$2.75/kg, while the heifers earned $2.70-$2.73/kg, but for much lighter weights of 433-470kg.

Prime and boner cows were all of dairy origin, with the better types selling on a steady market at $1.79-$1.94/kg, boners $1.36-$1.86/kg. Prime bulls were also steady.

The sheep market showed some firmness this week with all but the top end of the prime lambs and ewes firming. Prime lambs fetched $85-$106, stores $62-$78, ewes $50-$70.
