This year the NZ Fallow Deer Society won the Deer Industry NZ Award, recognising the contribution the society has made to the industry over the past 26 years. Vice-president Ian Bristow accepted the award on behalf of the society at a ceremony in Wellington recently.

With practical as well as financial co-operation for research into genetic gain and Johne’s disease control, environmental awareness and education and training of future deer farmers, the society has never shied away from its responsibilities.
