Australian milk collections for the 2013-14 season that ended in June was even compared to last season. Milk production across Australia at the halfway point of the season was down by about 3-4%.

In the second half of the season, improved pasture growth and market conditions boosted overall production. More farms subscribed to supply to Fonterra which increased milk collections for the company.

Fonterra's partnership with UK-based Dairy Crest will utilise Fonterra's existing arrangements of raw material supply from A-Ware Food Group in the Netherlands.

It is understood that the latter company will provide the raw materials to Dairy Crest to manufacture galactooligosaccharide (GOS) and demineralised whey.

Fonterra will announce its annual results on 24 September.
