Taupo’s Lakes and Waterways advocacy group is a public event on October 7 called Environmental Impacts of Farm System Options from Pasture to Plate on October 7.
Reading Time: < 1 minute

AgResearch scientist Dr Stewart Ledgard will speak about his research that looked at the specific attributes of New Zealand primary produce and how it contributed to their provenance and perception both locally and internationally.

Ledgard’s study looked at the ability of a nutrient-capped farm in the Taupo catchment to brand their product and maximise their return on investment. To help with this, farm and value chain models were designed and used.

“The models were based on Mike and Sharon Barton’s farm and their value-added Taupo Beef brand,” Ledgard said.

“However we expanded out the study to look at a variety of breeding and finishing options relating to meeting the requirements of the Lake Taupo Variation cap.”

Mike and Sharon Barton would also give an update on their Taupo Beef Grown Right Here brand.

The event is at the Taupo Women’s Club, Story Place, Wednesday October 7 at 5.30 pm.
