All primary sector businesses can open and operate on Thursday.
Reading Time: < 1 minute

But physical distancing along with other appropriate public health requirements such as having contract tracing registers apply.

The Ministry for Primary Industries says all businesses should use alternative ways of working if possible but business premises can open for staff and customers.

Businesses can hire staff at any alert level and in-person interviews are permitted at level two as long as physical distancing guidelines are followed.

Travel is also permitted anywhere in New Zealand but only if necessary. Take appropriate safety measures like keeping a record of where you stop and who you come into contact with.

MPI, on advice from the Ministry of Health and the Ministry for Business, Innovation and Employment, sats Moving Day can proceed under any alert level.

This farm practice is essential to the dairy industry – an essential service in the covid-19 crisis.

Moving Day activities will be restricted to those absolutely necessary to enable the movement of people and, where relevant, livestock, chattels and farm equipment.

That is to make sure dairy farmers and workers have safe and suitable housing and protect the welfare of their animals.
