(NEWS ALERT) Co-operatives Working Together (CWT) has accepted 6 requests for export assistance from Dairy Farmers of America, Michigan Milk Producers Association and Northwest Dairy Association (Darigold) who have contracts to sell 747,367lb (339 tonnes) of cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese, and 1.102 million pounds (500t) of whole milk powder (WMP) to customers in Asia and South America. The product has been contracted for delivery in the period from February through to July 2016.

So far this year, CWT has assisted member co-operatives who have contracts to sell 8.234m pounds of cheese, 5.401m pounds of butter and 6.847m pounds of WMP to 12 countries on five continents. The sales are the equivalent of 247.519m pounds of milk on a milkfat basis.

Assisting CWT members through the export assistance programme, in the long-term, helps member cooperatives gain and maintain market share, thus expanding the demand for US dairy products and the US farm milk that produces them. This, in turn, positively impacts all US dairy farmers by strengthening and maintaining the value of dairy products that directly impact their milk price.

The amounts of dairy products and related milk volumes reflect current contracts for delivery, not completed export volumes. CWT will pay export assistance to the bidders only when export and delivery of the product is verified by the submission of the required documentation.
