A smaller yarding of cattle featured at Coalgate last Thursday, where heavy prime steers, 525-575kg, sold for $3.13/kg, 23c/kg above last year, while 490-510kg steers dropped 13c/kg to $2.83/kg. Heifers were selectively bought; the best were 587kg, $3.11/kg, with most others $2.76/kg to $3.04/kg. Cows, 610-708kg, tidied up the prime pens at $2.00-$2.10/kg. 
The top prime lambs made $200-$227, though the majority ranged from $155 to $199. Ewe quality was varied; the best achieved $204-$227, with medium to good steady at $150-$189. Store lamb throughput rose 50 percent to 1220 head, with the top store lambs $140-$153, and the next cut down at $129-$133. Small types made $65-$110.
