Alliance Group remains the top lamb exporter with a 28.65% share of the EU numbers.

It is only the fifth biggest beef export, trailing behind ANZCO Foods, AFFCO Holdings and, this year for the first time, Greenlea Premier Meats.

ANZCO has 2022 tonnes of beef to the US (a 19.69% share of the 213,397 tonne NZ quota), from its three operating divisions, in order Riverlands, Canterbury Meat Packers (CMP) and CMP/Five-Star Beef.

SFF has access for 63,612t of beef.

AFFCO has an 18.28% share, Greenlea 8.77%, Alliance 8.14% and next is Wilson Hellaby with 6.98%. Greenlea has grown from 5.78% in 2011.

Alliance’s share of the 227,914t EU sheep meat quota is 65,303 tonnes, though the quota figures have not been close to being filled in recent years as other markets, notably China, have opened up.

Together, the co-operatives Alliance and SFF have 52.14% of the quota, down from 54.7% in 2011 but close to the levels of 2012 through to last year.

AFFCO has 12.6% of the quota, CMP/ANZCO 9.12%, Ovation NZ 6.34% and Taylor Preston 5.74%.

Companies associated with Craig Hickson have a total share of 10.34%, including Ovation and also Lean Meats 2.29%, and Te Kuiti Meat Processors 1.71%.

Others on the list are Blue Sky Meats 2.86%, Crusader Meat 2.12%, Wilson Hellaby 2%, and Davmet NZ, Integrated Foods and Prime Range Meats.
