Butter sells for record price on Dairy Trade India

Dairy Trade India’s (DTI) trading event 25 saw butter prices fetch a record price on the platform but skimmed milk powder sat at its low.

The August 25 event saw unsalted butter reach R250/kg (US$3770/tonne), up 8.7% from the previous auction.

The average price for butter on the latest GlobalDairyTrade auction was US$2541/t.

There was no change to the SMP price at the event which sat at R139/kg (US$2100/t). This is the lowest price at which SMP has traded on the DTI platform.

The average price for SMP at the latest GDT event was US$1521/t.

The above results for DTI are ex-works price across all suppliers for products traded/lowest quoted during the event.

The next DTI dairy commodity e-auction will be on Tuesday September 8, 2015 and the DTI milk e-auction will be on Friday August 28, 2015.
