The review noted that, as with last month's milk price increase, the August milk price rise is mainly due to the increase of some French milk prices, in particular Bongrain (+€1.1, €34.98) and Sodiaal (+€3.1, €35.91).
French milk prices have fallen relatively less compared with last years prices and are above the average of EU dairies.
Finnish Hameenlinnan Osuusmeijeri had a notably higher milk price of €39.72. This was due to a seasonal bonus in August.
DMK and Arla reduced their milk prices for August by €1 to €26.18 and €27.92 respectively, while FrieslandCampina reduced its milk price by €1.50/100kg to €27.71.
Arla Foods and FrieslandCampina both announced milk prices will remain unchanged for September and an increase of €0.50/100kg in October.
The review said that in addition to the Belgian milk price for Milcobel being €28.49, Belgian dairy farmers also receive for the next six months a crisis payment of 14 cents a litre of consumption milk sold. The payment is made directly to the farmer from a fund collected by the retail and is not reflected in the milk price of Milcobel.
